Levi's Story

Levi was born 5/22/05. He had some low muscle tone, but was progressing.  He had 3 words by 12 months old.  Somewhere around 15 months, he stopped talking.  At 25 months old, he was diagnosed with autism. He then was diagnosed with Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) and a chromosome abnormality.

Because of his diagnoses, Levi is nonverbal and at increased risk for seizures. He has low muscle tone, attention issues, no sense of danger, history of wandering, bouts of insomnia, severe food aversions.

A service dog for Levi could be life changing for our family. The SD would be trained for tracking, able to track Levi if he would run off saving precious time that could mean the difference between life and death. The SD would be able to distract Levi from his self-injury behaviors and help calm him when he is anxious.

In addition, Levi could be tethered to his SD which would "anchor" him to keep him from bolting. Levi would be able to walk independently with his SD without us having to have a hand on him at all times.

Levi is currently being home-schooled with a full time home ABA program. He is making huge progress and showing us everyday that we did not have high enough expectations for him.
